From Doggy Surf-a-Thons to Howl-o-ween pawties (and a lot more puns in-between!), it sure has been a busy, fun-filled year for Trusted Team - and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our lovely member volunteers.
The best bit is, there’s even more fun to come next year! And here’s how you (yes, you - reading this!) can get in on the action…

Doggy Surf-a-Thon with our partners at Helen Woodward
Surf’s up! Team Trusted and our far-out pack of volunteers kicked off summer in the best way we knew how: sponsoring and lending our support at Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon!
Remember Me Thursday®
Before you could say ‘surfing dogs’, we were back in sunny San Diego with our pals at The Animal Pad to spread one important message: opt to adopt, and to shine a light on orphan pets everywhere for Remember Me Thursday®.
PAWmicon with Helen Woodward Animal Center
We were back with our friends at Helen Woodward Animal Center, this time for Pawmicon! Crime-fighting canines, cute pets in cosplay, all the while helping to raise vital funds for the orphan pets and programs at Helen Woodward Animal Center? You don't need to ask us twice!
Howl-o-ween event with The Animal Pad
It wasn't long until our events took a spooky turn... with our Happy Howl-o-ween event with The Animal Pad! Tasty Halloween treats (for pups and humans alike), spooky costumes, fun contests, and cool caricatures courtesy of Poisonous Me.
What events are planned next?
Our next event will be TAP's 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Pawty, taking place on Saturday December 10th 2022, 5pm - 10pm at Lot 8 in Hotel Circle, San Diego.
This FREE, all-ages, dog-friendly event is open to the public, and we'd love to see you there! Expect a Santa Paws photo booth, a festive pawliday market, a silent auction, and more - not to mention, prizes for the ugliest of sweaters, for humans and pups alike!
What can I expect as a volunteer?
As a volunteer, you could help us set up before and after events, help out on our TrustedHousesitters stand, speak to potential new members and collect contact details, and give out freebies on the day. Oh, and did we mention you'll get to hang out with a lot of cute dogs?
But hey - don’t just take our word for it! Hear what it’s like to be a TrustedHousesitters volunteer from some of the incredible members who’ve been doing just that…
Maryse & Jeff McConnell
“When we share the TrustedHousesitters concept with pet parents, it is so rewarding to hear them say "We did not know such a service existed, this is exactly what we need!”. Also, meeting other TrustedHousesitters members, animal lovers and their dogs, and introducing them to the wonderful community of TrustedHousesitters.“
Janie DeCelles
"I’ve really enjoyed volunteering at events with TrustedHousesitters - it’s fun to explain the concept to people and see the 'lightbulb' go on in their eyes when they understand and see what a great idea it is! Almost everyone either has a pet or knows someone who does, so it’s really easy to engage and talk with people about TrustedHousesitters."
Stacy and Dave Zoyiopoulos
"I have been lucky enough to be invited to volunteer at local events sharing information about TrustedHousesitters. It is really fun talking to people about this great service. When chatting with potential members, their eyes light up when they realize that they can get a trusted pet sitter, in their own home, to care for their fur family. An instant relief comes across their face as they realize the struggle of finding quality care is no longer a struggle."
Mary Taylor
"Little Motek (Hebrew slang for "Sweetheart", pictured on the left) came into my life three days after the Surf Dog event. We hit it off right away and now we've become fast friends. The funny thing is I wasn't supposed to be volunteering that day. Some things are just meant to be."
Karen & Jay Schuppert
"I love to watch prospective members light up when I share stories of pets and homes we’ve cared for all over the world. And because I’m so passionate about the program, it’s such a great feeling when they join the TrustedHousesitters community."
Sarah Twamley
"We enjoy spreading the word about how home and pet owners can now experience their vacations with relief (stress-free), knowing they can travel and their pets are comfortable at home with a caring sitter. We always have a great time at the TrustedHousesitters events because everyone is so friendly and happy! We love hearing stories and having conversations with pet owners and other sitters when our community showcases in San Diego. So many owners are relieved to hear about how we unconditionally care for their pets and not how we are paid to house sit with their pets."
So… ready to join in on the fun for yourself? Whether it’s watching dogs ride the waves (and honestly - who wouldn’t want to see that?!) or spreading the word to new members, we’d love to have you on our Trusted Team! Simply register your interest by filling in the form below.
