This #BCorpMonth, we’re celebrating our work alongside thousands of other B Corps around the world and sharing our second annual Impact Report. Below, you’ll find some of the key highlights from our report - but before we dive on in, let’s first hear from Mathew Prior, TrustedHousesitters CEO:
“2024 was a year of transformation and change for us. We’ve navigated some challenges, but we’ve also celebrated key milestones that reflect our commitment to driving positive change. Key highlights: 2024 in numbers
First up: we’re pawsitively thrilled to report a 54% reduction in our emissions compared to our baseline year, 2023! A great progress indicator, but year-on-year analyses like this should be interpreted with caution as a more meaningful view will emerge over a longer timeframe.
2,234,436 nights of pet sitting
Pets were cared for in 133 countries
We welcomed 77,244 new pets to our platform
And rounded off 2024 with 234,389 pets in our community (now that’s an awful lot of paws, hooves, and tails!)
We also supported 36 charities close to our hearts
And donated £38k to help charities carry out vital work
2024: The year of becoming B-Corp
After almost two years of hard work and dedication, in 2024, we joined the B Corp community! Being a B Corp goes beyond just operating with people and the planet in mind: it’s a public declaration that says the normal way of doing business is no longer an option. Being B Corp means acting collectively to accelerate global change at scale for a cleaner, greener, fairer future for all living things.
TrustedHousesitters: A more responsible way to travel
For us, responsible travel isn’t just about protecting our planet - it’s also about protecting the lives of the people and communities who call it home. By operating within the sharing economy and being centered around animals, rather than money, our membership model provides a more responsible way for pet-loving explorers to travel, while also reducing the negative social impacts of travel and tourism.
Our members vs the average traveller
In 2024, we embarked on a mission to learn more about how our members' environmental beliefs and actions compared to the average traveller. We pulled together insights from 5,000 of our members across 40 locations (mostly the US, UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia), and compared it against travel industry insights.
Over the past 12 months, our members say they've been taking small – but measurable! – steps to drive a sustainable future while travelling...
80% of our members turn electricals off when out (77% on average)
76% of our members recycle their waste (45% on average)
84% of our members carry a reusable water bottle (55% on average)
60% of our members favor small independent shops over chains or supermarkets (43% on average)

Rescue and re-homing
Animals sit at the heart of TrustedHousesitters, so naturally, we want to help as many pets as possible live their happiest, healthiest lives. In 2024, we continued working closely with our trusted charity partner, the Helen Woodward Animal Center, to support their life-changing work.

Donated £23K+ to help the Helen Woodward Animal Center feed and care for their rising puppy population.
Created a pet care hub to help remove some of the blockers prospective pet parents were facing, including training videos addressing common issues like leash pulling and separation anxiety.
Provided a reduced TrustedHousesitters membership for all adoptions made through Helen Woodward in 2024.
