How we’re helping to support the re-homing of rescue pets
“People help animals and animals help people”
We love this motto at TrustedHousesitters, it’s one of the many reasons we decided to partner up with Helen Woodward Animal Center at the start of 2022. Since 1972, this amazing nonprofit has been rescuing, rehoming, and improving the lives of thousands of animals in San Diego. They are a key part of the local community, providing educational and therapeutic programs to share the love of animals and all their amazing benefits with us.
Every pet deserves a loving, secure home surrounded by humans who love, adore, and respect them. Education, therapy, fostering, and adoption are all great ways to learn more about animals, how we can improve their lives, and how much better they make ours. With an average of 4000 adoptions each year, that’s a huge amount of love.

“People help animals and animals help people”
Pets come first at TrustedHousesitters, just as they do at Helen Woodward Animal Center. There are times when pet parents have to be away from home without their furry family, in those times it can be difficult to decide what to do. One thing for certain: Pets are happiest at home. It’s a well-known fact, and vets agree!
Recently rehomed animals need as much support and comfort as possible from their new families. The experience of being rescued, displaced in a kennel or cattery, and then taken to yet another new place, unsure if this will be their forever home, is traumatic for them. So, during those times when pet parents have to leave home, the next best thing to having them around is a trusted, loving pet sitter.
All TrustedHousesitters sitters are verified pet lovers who can help to keep rescues settled and happy in their new homes, offering all the comfort and security they need whilst their humans are away. Being around for cuddles and strokes, keeping their routine, and offering a secure presence, pet sitting is the best solution for animals.
We have so many beautiful stories from members about their adoption journeys and the amazing new lives they provided for their new family members. They’ve seen firsthand how animal centers like Helen Woodward Animal Center have brought so much love and joy into homes in and around San Diego. What’s more, for sitters thinking of fostering and adoption, pet sitting is a fantastic way to gain experience caring for furbabies and rescues.
With puppy adoption fees at $499, $385 for pups over six months old, kitten adoption fees at $299 including microchipping, and adult kitties at $195, adoption is only a donation away. Their website has all their latest rescues ready to be adopted. Or, why not visit in person? Their adoption center is currently open on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
At the start of 2024, we pledged to provide as much support as possible towards the amazing work of Helen Woodward Animal Center. To kick things off, we’re offering 50% off an Annual Standard Pet Parent Membership plan for those who adopt through Helen Woodward Animal Center this year. While 4000 adoptions a year is pawsome, Helen Woodward Animal Center wants to drive more and we want to make this possible. Be part of this incredible organization and look at adoption today.
