How do I get started as an owner?
With an annual owner plan, you can connect with kind and caring sitters who won't charge to keep your pets safe and happy at home whenever you're away.
Simply purchase your owner plan and create a listing including pictures of your pets and home and the dates you’re going away, then reach out to verified and reviewed sitters your pets are sure to love — then it’s up to you to start the adventure and be sure to travel with peace of mind knowing your pets are happy and safe at home.
How do I get started as a sitter?
With an annual sitter plan, you can easily connect with home owners looking for pet care while they are away.
Simply purchase your sitter plan and create a profile including pictures of yourself — make sure to include your partner if you plan on travelling as a couple, or your family if you like to travel as a group. Photos of you interacting with animals is also a must too! Within your profile you’ll include information about yourself, your animal experience, why you want to house sit and the dates and locations you’re interested to travel. It’s then up to you to start applying for your perfect house and pet sit.
Do sitters get paid?
Owners and pet sitters who buy an annual TrustedHousesitters membership can connect to exchange home and pet care for a place to stay, all year round. Each and every pet sit is a special agreement in which sitters don’t charge to provide care in the pet’s own home, and owners don’t charge for them to stay there.
TrustedHousesitters is so much more than free pet sitting website. It’s a community of genuine pet lovers helping all animals — not just cats and dogs — stay in their own home while their owners are away.
How are sitters vetted?
We understand that the idea of someone new coming to stay in your home can seem daunting at first, but rest assured the Trust and Safety of our members is taken very seriously.
We offer our sitters free verifications, which are attained by verifying email address, phone number and providing an external reference. Some sitters also carry out their own criminal background checks which they are always happy to share with you for further reassurance.
Sitters also have reviews from any past sits that they have completed, and additionally are allowed to leave feedback for the owners of a sit too. We find that this feedback and review system is a very effective way for members to record and let other members know about their experience during a sit.
