- Canine cookery: TikTok star shows how to cook up a storm for your pet with new dog-friendly cookbook
Dog lovers across the UK are being encouraged to scrap the expensive dinner plans and cook up one of seven dog and human-friendly meals in a new cookbook, ‘Dine with your Dog - Trusted Treats & Recipes’, with the help of TikTok star Chastity Hobbs.
In a recent TikTok video, Chas at @through.the.lleaves shares how to make a delicious Slobber-worthy Salmon Fish Cakes, that only needs a few additions to make it perfect for humans, too.
Speaking to her 1.7M TikTok followers, Chas says: "If you enjoy a good date night with a loyal companion, then this recipe book is for you. We got a sneak peek of the recipe book and we are so excited to try these out – I can already tell that Zuko is going to love them!”
A recent survey finds that over half of UK pet parents (58%) prefer to snuggle up on the sofa with their pooch than their partner, showing that pets are the top dogs when it comes to their owner's love and attention.
The survey also found over 4 in 5 (82%) owners report feeling guilty about going out for the evening and leaving their pets behind. But now, pet owners can relax at home and have the restaurant come to them!
Chas has been cooking up a tasty storm with TrustedHousesitters recipes, exclusive in their new 'Dine with your Dog - Trusted Treats & Recipes' downloadable cookbook. With a variety of easy recipes, dog lovers can treat their pets to culinary delights, such as Slobber-worthy Salmon Fishcakes and Peanut Butter Banana Pupcakes, no matter their chef skills.
To whip up pup-friendly Slobber-worthy Salmon Fishcakes for their four-legged friend, owners simply need to:
- Reheat oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Combine a can of salmon, 65g brown rice flour, 65g oat flour, 1 egg, and 20g fresh parsley.
- Roll mixture into balls, place on the baking tray and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Tip for humans: This recipe contains all human-safe ingredients so you and your four-pawed pal can share! Just add a dressed salad and a wedge of lemon to your portion.
Angela Laws, Head of Community at TrustedHousesitters, commented on the new recipe range:
"With pet parents feeling guilty about leaving their beloved pets at home, we decided it was time to open up the cookbook and create something that owners and pets alike can enjoy.
It's great to see Chas follow along, and it was even better to see a licked-clean bowl once Zuko had finished their delicious treat!"
The full range of pooch-friendly recipes can be found in the TrustedHousesitters online cookbook.
Whenever you give your dog new food, be sure to consult with your vet if you're unsure of individual dietary requirements.
