Nope, our sitters house sit for love, not money! After paying an annual membership, no money changes hands between our members. Instead, it’s a win-win situation where sitters exchange their love and care for a stay in your home and the chance to make new furry friends.

Would a sitter want to stay in my home/location?

Our sitters love to experience all kinds of homes, in all kinds of locations! So don’t worry, your home needn’t be something you’d expect to see in a glossy magazine. For them, it’s much less about grand accommodations and more a chance to stay in real homes around the world, and live like the locals do.

Sitters are looking for a cozy, home-away-from-home where they can embed themselves within the local community, spend time with adorable pets (like yours!), and make unique travel memories. So, as long as your home is clean, tidy, and welcoming, we’ve no doubt our sitters would love to stay!

What to expect the first time you have a house sitter?

Feeling a mix of excitement and nerves at the thought of having a house sitter for the first time? Then you’re not alone! Lots of people who are new to our platform (and many of our seasoned members, too) find peace of mind inviting their sitter over for a few hours before they leave. Whether it’s a meal or just a coffee and a chat, this is a chance to break the ice and get to know each other a little better. After that, you can introduce them to your furry family members, show them around the place, and clarify house sitter responsibilities together.

How to feel comfortable with a stranger in the house?

We get it – having a stranger in the house can feel a little, well, strange. Cooking your sitters a meal the night before you jet off or scheduling a couple of video calls can help you get to know one another a little better, and strangers quickly become friends in the world of house and pet sitting.

How quickly can I find a sitter?

Most pet parents confirm a sitter within a day! Of course, this can vary depending on things like your location, or the level of detail you’ve provided in your listing. But don’t worry - if you don’t find a sitter within 14 days, then we'll refund you. Learn more about our Money Back Promise here.

Will I find an in-home pet sitter near me?

While TrustedHousesitters operates across all four corners of the globe and sitters come from both near and far, it’s certainly possible to find local sitters. If this is a priority, you can use the TrustedHousesitters website to browse the profiles of house and pet sitters in your area and reach out to see if they’re available.

Is there cover in case something goes wrong?

Of course we’ve got plans for when things don’t go to plan! Our Home and Contents Plan covers those with a Standard or Premium Pet Parent membership against property damage, theft, and sitter accidents. Our Premium Pet Parent members can also benefit from our Sit Cancellation Plan, which covers them in the rare situation that their sitter cancels.
