Tom and Renee Cottrell have been house sitters for our home in the Arcadia/Scottsdale, Arizona, USA home on numerous occasions over the last several years. The homes in our neighborhood are on large lots and range in value from $1,200,000 to $6,000,000. It is one of the most sought-after areas to live in within the Phoenix metropolitan area. We have had the Cottrells stay at our home when we have gone on extended (2-6 weeks) trips in the US and abroad. They were responsible for overseeing our home and the various service providers who come weekly/monthly to care for our home (landscapers, pool man, exterminator, window washer, housekeeper, etc.). Our home has a security alarm system and the Cottrells were proficient in arming and disarming each time they left and returned. The Cottrells responded to the normal problems that arise with home ownership (plumbing issues, sprinkler leaks, etc.) promptly and without need for handholding or making a fuss. They would report any items of concern that they noticed. They communicated as needed with our neighbors and they were welcomed short term residents Importantly, Tom and Renee were the care takers of our elderly dog, Johnny, which is no small task. Johnny is an early riser (5:00 AM), wants to be let out right away and then to be fed immediately. He is very temperamental and bites when he feels like it. We love the little guy, but most people stand clear of him. The Cottrells coped with Johnny and his moods. They treated Johnny as their own and never complained about his difficult nature. Our home is furnished with expensive furniture and art. They cared for everything as if it was their own and it was in the same condition as when we left. We have a home office with important papers and several computers. Tom and Renee are mature and completely trustworthy. We had no second thoughts about leaving them in charge of our possessions and papers. The Cottrells are avid readers and stay at home a good deal of time. They also enjoy walking. Unlike some home sitters that we have had who never seem to be at the house, the Cottrells are a constant presence on the property. I can recommend Tom and Renee Cottrell as home sitters wholeheartedly and without reservation.
