We own and operate a restaurant located in Julian, California, above the mountains of San Diego. In 1997, we had just opened a small country inn, specializing in retreats and weddings. We had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Smith for the first time and later, Nancy Reid, and we realized how much we had in common with our quest for adventure, appreciation of quality hospitality and love of animals. Over the years, both Nancy and Lisa have pet sat for me both personally as well as when we had the ‘petting zoo of rescues’ at our country inn. Personally, they cared for the animals in my home as well as the plants and general house sitting. At the time, I had 18 cats and 8 dogs. At the Inn, there were several horses, donkeys, goats, pot belly pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and rabbits. Nancy and Lisa would care for them in the morning and night, as well as do visual safety checks throughout the day. Additionally, with their excellent hospitality skills, sometimes, they would take over the front desk at the hotel, giving me a break for a day or two and sometimes week. This would involve booking rooms as well as answering many questions about retreat bookings, weddings and rehearsal dinners. They are both incredibly thorough and exceptionally respectful of both time and space and I wholeheartedly recommend them for so many different things.
