Atlantic City attractions
Whether you’re in Jersey for quite a while or just for a few days and wondering what to do in Atlantic City this week/weekend, here are some things to do in AC you most definitely shouldn’t miss out on:
1. Atlantic City Historical Museum: first opened in the mid-80s, the Atlantic City Historical Museum displays a variety of exhibits relating to the last 150 years of the AC’s rich history. Among its collection are various Miss America dresses, unique artworks and historical relics, as well as a life-sized statue of the advertising mascot Mr. Peanut.
2. Brigantine Beach Historical Museum: if you love old photographs and historical artifacts, then be sure to also plan for a trip to the Brigantine Beach Historical Museum, located on the small AC island of the same name. Take care, though, the museum is only open between 11am and 2pm Mon to Sat and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
3. Marine Mammal Stranding Center: although the Center’s actual purpose is the rescue, rehabilitation and release of marine mammals and sea turtles, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center also serves as a fascinating museum, featuring marine artifacts and educating its visitors on all things marine life.
Free things to do in Atlantic City
Looking for more things to do in Atlantic City, NJ this weekend? Here are some exciting ideas that won’t cost you a penny:
1. War Memorials & Chicken Bone Beach: Chicken Bone Beach gets its name from its sad history as a racially segregated section of the Atlantic Ocean beach. Today, the beach is as inclusive as it always should have been, and absolutely lovely. If you walk its full length, the trip will also take you past two fascinating War Memorials in Atlantic City: the bronze World War I Memorial on its eastern end, as well as the Korean War Memorial on its western end.
2. Birch Grove Park: can’t get enough of beautiful natural views? Then head over to Birch Grove Park for some well-deserved R&R. Here, you can walk in the shade of serene forests, fish in the calm lakes and even camp a day or two before or after your actual pet sitting trip.
3. Atlantic City Boardwalk: time for some lively urban fun after all the quiet relaxation! The Atlantic City Boardwalk is a bustling entertainment hub, located right off Chicken Bone Beach. Whether you’re looking to buy some souvenirs, enjoy an evening out or grab a yummy meal, you’re in the right place!

Are you ready for some pure-fun Atlantic City activities? Check out these cool places:
1. Steel Pier: we’re sure you’ve heard of Coney Island, but did you know that Atlantic City has its very own version of the famous coastal amusement park? Steel Pier offers exciting rides, a casino, various music and art venues as well as amazing eateries and shopping opportunities for a fun day (or night) out.
2. Central Pier Arcade: for some old-school fun, head to the Central Pier Arcade. The cool entertainment centre offers a go-kart speedway, game systems, crane and slot machines, and more.
3. Ripley's Believe It or Not!: should you be in the mood for a trip to the museum like you’ve never experienced before, plan for a few hours at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Shrinking heads, strange sculptures, unusual artifacts and a laser maze for some additional fun are just some of the odd and spectacular things you’ll find here.
What to do in Atlantic City with pets
Now, after all, this is a pet sitting trip, so what is there to do in Atlantic City that you can experience alongside your new furry friend? Here are our top tips:
1. Absecon Lighthouse: a short walk off Chicken Bone Beach and the Absecon Inlet you’ll find the beautiful Absecon Lighthouse and museum. The museum itself is dog-friendly, so you can bring the pooch while you learn more about one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. If you’re so inclined, you can also climb the lighthouse itself; the pupper is unfortunately not allowed up, though.
2. Longport Dog Beach: out for coastal adventures with the doggo? Longport Dog Beach is where you wanna go! This highly-rated, pooch-friendly beach is the perfect place for some off-leash fun and refreshing dips in the ocean alongside your new four-legged friend.
3. Brigantine Beach: another lovely beach to enjoy with the pupper is Brigantine Beach. From October to May you can visit anywhere here with Fido as long as they’re on a leash, whereas the North-End Beach is open for walks with the dog any time during the year.
