Seattle: Washington state’s largest city and one of the world’s hipster hot spots, it’s the city of coffee culture and (fun fact) an eclectic grunge music scene. Nicknamed Emerald City (no questions as to why), it’s full to the brim with acres of parkland - a dog lover’s paradise and the ideal place to get your house sitting (and walkies) adventures started. That’s why we’re here with our top 10 picks of the most dog-friendly bars Seattle has to offer, along with a few restaurants and cafes thrown in for good measure!

Just a quick note - to avoid disappointment, it’s always worth contacting the bar you plan to visit beforehand just to check they’re still pet-friendly. Rules, regulations and preferences change all the time, so it’s better to be safe than sorry! For now though and without any further ado, let’s find you a spot to paws for a pint with your new fluffy friend by your side.

Dog Yard

Address and map pin: 1546 NW Leary Wy, Seattle, WA 98107

If you’ve been around the house sitting block a few times or you have a furry family yourself, you’ll understand the hassle of finding a place that welcomes (and loves) your pup pals as much as you do. Hassle no more - Dog Yard, Ballard is a dog-friendly bar in Seattle ticking all the boxes. Rather than squeezing you and your pup on an outside patio away from other diners, Dog Yard is centered around your pup. Complete with an outdoor dog park (and Bark Rangers to keep an eye on them) and indoor area with heated floors and a fireplace, Dog Yard is ideal if you’d like somewhere for you and your four-legged friend to socialize with other humans and canine companions alike. Kick back with a beer (great choices available, naturally), freshly baked pastries and even choose from the dog menu for pup-safe cannolis or poochacino.

Beveridge Place Pub

Address and map pin: 6413 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98136

If you’re serious about your beer, Beveridge Place Pub does what it says on the tin (or should we say tap…?). Offering an impressive 37 rotating taps featuring craft-brewed ales and lagers from the US, Europe and Asia, it’s the ideal place to stop for a (refreshing) rest where your four-legged pal is more than welcome. And it’s not just their drinks that aren’t skimped on - this place offers three areas for visitors to choose from. If you’re after a dog- friendly sports bar in Seattle, head to their game room - it’s complete with darts, a shuffleboard, football and of course a TV for you to catch up on the games. Or maybe a quieter room is up your street - check out their front room if so, where you’ll find board games and vintage décor. Or if the sun’s got its hat on and you’d like to catch a few rays with Fido, head to their (rather relaxing) beer garden that’s surrounded by greenery.

The Barking Dog Ale House

Address and map pin: 705 NW 70th St, Seattle, WA 98117

Before we get into their incredible beer selection and top-notch dinners, we have to talk about the Barking Dog’s ethos. If you’re after dog friendly bars that go the extra mile and truly care about animals as much as you do, this place is going to be right up your street.  On every second Wednesday of the month, the bar partners with a local dog-forward organization and donates $1 for every pint sold that day! So, if you’re house sitting on the second Wednesday of the month, head down and sample micro-brewed beers and tipples from around the country, choose from sliders to salads and head to the outdoor seating which is heated, covered and completely dog-friendly. Oh, and if you’re after dog- friendly sports bar in Seattle, this place has fourhuge TVs.

Along with over 30 beers and ciders, wines and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from, find an outdoor area (literally) made for your pup pal to socialize and burn off all that energy! It’s complete with outdoor heaters, water stations (all that tail chasing is thirsty work!), and a gathering space for pet parents (and sitters, naturally) that’s sheltered from the rain and sun. And not to worry about your pooch getting muddy - the space is covered in turf, so no unwanted bathtimes necessary.
