Zorro's Legends: Dissaya & Young's pet sitting journey for Kelly & Matt

Growing up in a family dedicated to rescuing and adopting animals, Dissaya couldn’t imagine life without a pet by her side. After moving to the US and tying the knot with Young, they both decided it was time to find a balance between their travel commitments and enjoying the companionship of animals once again. Pet sitting was the answer they were looking for, and they fell in love with it immediately. 

“Our favorite aspect of pet sitting is spending quality time with a variety of different animals, all with their unique set of personalities, behaviors, and routines. We meet so many memorable characters and not only walk or play with them but provide and care for them over several days as well. We get to build special bonds with the animals, even though they are not our pets,” says Dissaya.

The couple discovered TrustedHousesitters in the midst of their pet sitting adventures, and this is where they crossed paths with Kelly, Matt, and the adorable Zorro. 

“Our initial video call with Kelly, Matt, and Zorro was very reassuring,” Dissaya says. “They had so much experience with stays through the site and gave us great details on caring for Zorro and their home. Kelly and Matt did an amazing job of setting expectations and answering all our questions. Initially, we thought it would be more of an interview for us to make sure we were trustworthy enough to look after Zorro and their home, but it turned out to be a very pleasant conversation.”

Kelly and Matt were on the hunt for the perfect in-home pet sitter who would make their beloved pup’s health and happiness their top priority. 

“Because we live in the desirable travel destination of San Diego we get applicants very quickly. Dissaya and Young sent a really well-thought-out application that told me they had read our whole profile and paid attention to what we were looking for in a sitter,” says Kelly. 

Zorro needed someone who would take him along on their adventures, or to stay at home to hang out and play with him. And Dissaya and Young were the perfect match.

“We liked Dissaya and Young immediately and knew they would be a good fit for us and Zorro. We always make sure our sitters know that our dog can’t be left for longer than three hours and they were very happy to stay with him or bring him on their outings.”

When Dissaya and Young arrived at Kelly and Matt’s home, they were greeted warmly and given a great rundown of how everything worked. Every little detail had been thought of - from how to use the wet-dry vacuum to the quirks of the hot tub. When it was time for Kelly and Matt to leave, Dissaya and Young were truly set up for success! 

“Dissaya and Young were great at sending us updates and photos and we loved seeing our pup having so much fun with them. Knowing that he was having a great time made our trip more relaxing,” Kelly says. “They took extra care to return our home as clean and tidy as we left it which is always nice after a day of travel. Upon returning, we could tell that Zorro had really bonded with them, and to top it all off, they left us a thank you note and a mushroom dish from the company that Dissaya owns.”

The sit was clearly a success, and not just because Dissaya and Young have an extra special soft spot for dogs. 

“Zorro was the sweetest dog!” Dissaya gushed. “He loved sitting with us while we worked, taking naps on his favorite cushions, and was extremely well-behaved. He would also sleep with us on the bed, which is one of our favorite ways of spending time with dogs. We hope to see him again!”

While Dissaya and Young are currently back in Thailand caring for the menagerie of family pets (5 cats and 4 dogs!), that wet-dry vacuum still plays on Dissaya’s mind, “I used the wet-dry vacuum as often as possible and still think about it every now and then!”. The pet sitting pair have kept in touch with Matt and Kelly, and they hope to meet up next time they’re all in San Diego.
