Love pets? Love to travel? While we could easily wax lyrical about why we think TrustedHousesitters is the best way for pet lovers (like you!) to travel and get their much-needed pet fix along the way, we thought we’d hand it over to one of our lovely members to explain instead...
Meet Nina: she’s an adventurer, full-time travel blogger, and a TrustedHousesitters member to boot. We sat down for a chat with Nina to hear more about her incredible pet sitting lifestyle, and why she believes TrustedHousesitters is the best way for people who love pets to travel affordably (especially if you're one of three types of travelers...)

"Whether you're a savvy budget traveler, laptop nomad, or solo on the road, you might be the ultimate traveler that needs to use TrustedHousesitters! Beyond being a pet lover (this is a given), using TrustedHousesitters can truly be an asset for these types of travelers.
Considering I'm personally all three, I'll help show you why this is one of my favorite ways to travel..."
1. Long-term budget travelers
"Almost every traveler is looking for a good deal or a way to save money on the road. One of the biggest expenses as a traveler is accommodation, no doubt!
While there are a few ways to get affordable accommodation or discounts, there is only one way to get affordable accommodation AND a pet — so there's arguably no better option than using TrustedHousesitters.
For long-term travelers, this saving is HUGE as it means we can use those thousands of dollars we would have spent on accommodation on more travel instead. It's really a no-brainer.
I love the animals (that goes without saying), but I also really love the savings on accommodation I get.
I recently did a two-week house sit in London and no doubt saved myself around $1,500 USD in accommodation costs. I was able to visit London during summer (high season) and live totally rent-free while exploring the city.
My flat was perfect. It had everything I needed, including the cutest little Frenchie, Lola, to keep me company. I'm not sure I can visit London without doing a pet sit now – it's just too good to do it with TrustedHousesitters instead. Not to mention there are SO many sits available, you could post up in London for a few months and live rent-free while getting puppy and kitty cuddles in!"
2. Remote workers
"It's no secret remote work is on the rise, and thankfully so! Who wants to do their job behind a computer PLUS deal with traffic, rising gas prices, and Sarah's stinky tuna sandwich lunch every day when you could do the same work in your PJs at home?
Better yet, what about doing that job from anywhere in the world? It's a dream situation for most, but some may argue there is still something missing... Perhaps a furry friend can be the cherry on top of this dream work situation?
If you've already accomplished scoring a remote work position and you've been thinking of taking your desk somewhere else, then you're definitely one of the travelers that should be using TrustedHousesitters.
Here are just a few of the best perks you can expect:
- A legitimate apartment or house — which often means there's a comfortable place to work from and a wifi network all to yourself. (Talk about a remote worker's dream office!)
- A furry friend to break up your day or make you go outside for a walk. You know you should be getting up from your desk more often, and trust me, the dog you're house sitting will surely remind you to!
- Mega savings on accommodation! While it's great we can work from the road, sometimes it stings a bit to shell out money for AirBnbs and hotels in a new location only to simply work all day.
All the places I've done pet sitting had some of the best office setups I've had while working around the world. Even many of my Airbnbs struggle to provide me with a proper desk or a decent enough table.
Better yet, many hosts on the platform request remote workers as their pets may be used to having humans around. This means you may have the upper hand when applying for pet sits."
3. Solo travelers
"Working online can get lonely, so having a furry friend to spend the day with and come home to is truly a blessing. As a *sometimes* solo traveler, TrustedHousesitters saves me in two ways — I'm honestly not sure I can solo travel without using them now!
First, bringing it back to #1, I'm spending more on accommodation when traveling without my partner or a friend. Don't get me wrong, I love my space and traveling solo, but that accommodation cost definitely hits harder when you're not splitting it down the middle. My wallet can really take a beating when I travel solo!
In addition to helping my wallet out, it really helps me from getting lonely. While I love my own company and I'm confident in doing things alone, nothing can beat coming home to a cute face like Cheddar's after wandering around Berlin for the day!
For any long-term solo traveler out there who loves animals — TrustedHousesitters is going to be your greatest resource! Save your money, don't deal with other humans who flake out on travel plans, and explore new places solo while having a sweet doggo or precious kitty to come home to. Problem solved!
Are you one of these types of travelers? Maybe you're all three like me! If so, will this be your new way of traveling the world?"
With thanks to the lovely Nina for sharing her experiences with us! We're not sure about you, but she sure paints the perfect house sitting picture: affordable accommodation around the world, cozy homes to stay in, plus the company of an adorable four-pawed pal like Lola or Cheddar to keep you on your paws. Um, where do we sign up?!
(Actually, you can sign up right here if, like us, you've been inspired to follow Nina's jet-setting, pet sitting footsteps. Who knows? One day, you could be caring for a cute pup like Cheddar, or exploring the sights of London with sweet pooch like Lola by your side...)
