“We have said it a million times but we don’t know why we didn’t sign up sooner [...] travel for us has forever changed.”
In September 2021, Eoin and Aisling made the brave and brilliant decision to begin travelling whilst remote working. Despite hearing amazing stories from their friends about their pet sitting experiences, they felt the time was never quite right for them. Two years later, with several sits already under their belt, they can’t believe hadn’t signed up sooner!
“We knew we should have signed up the moment we first heard about it!”

As adventure-loving pet people, they pined for the company and companionship they found through dog sitting.
“Back in Ireland we both came from houses with dogs and we loved pet sitting for our friends and joining them for doggie days out. So when we started travelling we really missed spending time with dogs and other animals.”
Their time travelling began at quite a fast pace, but in the last 6 months, they have started to embrace the joys of slow travel. This change in travel momentum led them, once more, to think about how much they missed being around pets.
"An animal makes anywhere feel like home."
“An animal makes anywhere feel like home and for us, when we are moving from place to place and country to country this feeling of home is so comforting and gives us such a warm feeling in our hearts.”
In addition to making some fabulous furry friends, Eoin and Aisling have also bonded and connected with some fellow humans.
“TrustedHousesitters have such a great sense of community and this is something that we didn’t take into consideration when we signed up but we have formed some great friendships with all of our pet owners that we will always cherish.”
“TrustedHousesitters have such a great sense of community"
We love hearing about how friendships blossom through our community, all through the love of pets. Speaking of which, we wanted to know more about Eoin and Aisling’s fur favourites…
“We’ve been with TrustedHousesitters for 3 months but in saying that we have had quite a few sits and honestly, they have all been amazing! But we have one little guy who definitely sticks out and we talk about him all the time and that’s Trevor! Trevor was our second house sit and we are actually going back to look after him for Christmas! We can’t wait.
We went to meet Trevor and his owners prior to the sit and stayed with him for almost 3 weeks and from this first meeting, we got on like a house on fire! Trevor loves cuddles, he is such a poser and we just got so attached that when it came time to say goodbye we had to pull ourselves away.”
Despite being self-confessed dog lovers, Eoin and Aisling are keen to care for and meet any type of animal on their adventures. From a friendly, cuddly cat to the more exotic tortoise or lizard, the couple are happy to simply share their love of pets whilst travelling.
Speaking of travels, has being a TrustedHousesitters member improved their remote working experience?
“100%! When remote working and travelling it can be hard to know whether you are going to have a stable internet connection, a base where you can fully concentrate and work to the best of your abilities but with TrustedHousesitters we haven’t had to worry about this. [...] Overall, it has had a positive impact on both. For travel, it’s opened up the possibility of visiting countries that we once considered ‘out of budget’ due to the accommodation costs.”
Even from their short time as members, they already understand what makes the paw-fect pet sitter.
“Someone that is caring, compassionate and excited about the experience. You are being welcomed into someone’s home to care for their pets and look after their house after all and that is a big responsibility so just remember and respect this. [...] Communication is key, a few photos or a message here and there really help to ensure the owner has peace of mind while away.”
In fact, photographing their new pet pals has brought them so much joy, they make it a regular occurrence on every sit. We’ve some their favorites in this story!
"Communication is key, a few photos or a message here and there really help to ensure the owner has peace of mind while away.”
So, other than Christmas with Trevor, what’s next on their adventure agenda?
“We are on an Island in South Korea looking after a lovely dog called Olive, she is looking up at me now and I’m going to guess she’s thinking ‘It’s walk time, stop typing!’
We are here for a week and then we have another sit in just over a week in Hong Kong. So it’s all go over here with us and then we fly back to Singapore where we have two more sits lined up for over the Christmas period. We can’t stress enough how much this has changed the way we view travel.”
