Finding the right dog training app is tricky. As pup parents, we’re often keen to find the most cost-effective yet reliable solution to training our talented tailwaggers. Saving the cents is a hot topic right now, and in-person trainers are infamously expensive. However, by using a reputable virtual puppy training service or reliable free dog training app this can save you both time and money. But with so many dog training apps on the market, it’s difficult to find the best of the bunch.

However, we have done the paw work for you! After sniffing through all the different options for both Android and iPhone, we’ve created a short list of which dog training apps are worth barking over!

So, whether you've just welcomed a new puppy, you're working from home with dogs and need a little extra training or you're soon to adopt an older dog, explore the dog training apps below to get prepared, and your dog trained-up.

1. Dogo App

When it comes to doggie discipline, using a dog training app created by the experts is a big green flag. Set up by vet, Rasa, and her partner, Tada (a software developer), they decided to create an app that is pro-pet and pro-pet parent.

As well as offering personalized training exercises and obedience training for every kind of dog, Dogo is also a community. When you sign up, you become part of their pet community to offer support to new or growing canine careers. This also includes verified dog training and medical experts from around the globe to provide real-time advice and help.

With a 7-day free trial for all new members, Dogo subscriptions range from $9.99 to $79.99. Not a bad price to pay for such a well-rated dog training app!

2. Puppr: Dog Training App

Although Puppr doesn’t have a personalized training program available, they do have hundreds of different command lessons and easy to follow step-by-step training video instructions. These include lessons by celebrity dog trainer, Sara Carson, who is known for being one of the world’s leading dog training experts.

Whilst also offering live chat sessions with real-life trainers, Puppr allows you to record your pups’ progress and track training exercises for all abilities. Their subscription includes a 7-day free trial and either a monthly package of $12.99 a month, or an annual payment of $99.99. Plus, they also have their own adorable doggo merchandise too!

3. GoodPup

GoodPup believes dog training is best done in the comfort of your hound’s home. Their philosophy revolves around how your furry friend is more likely to learn in a familiar, relaxed environment with minimal distractions. Not only do they provide a 24/7 live chat help and advice line, GoodPup also offers 1-1 personalized training sessions via webcam!

Daily training exercises are tailored to every dog’s own individual needs and personality, with plenty of flexibility on changing up their day-to-day training program. Your 7-day free trial will also include all the premium perks (including the 24/7 live chat helpline), and membership prices will vary depending on your dog’s needs.

Whether you’re potty training your puppy or teaching your pup pal a new dog trick, GoodPup is one of the most personable apps around.

4. Pupford

The key to dog training success lies in the bond between you and your favorite furry friend. At least, that’s certainly what Pupford thinks! Starting with the concept of building your relationship with your pup pal first, they focus on strengthening how best you communicate with your dog.

Their central ideas are around positive reinforcement and doggo nutrition. In tandem with offering free dog training video instructions, they offer tailored tasty treats for specific training rewards. For more exclusive, premium content, discounts off their pooch products, and lessons on dog first aid, you can pay for their Dog Academy either with a $9.99 monthly payment or a lifetime one-off payment of $99.99. Trust us when we say that is a barking mad offer!

5. Pup to Date

If you have a brand new pupper on the way or fresh out of the crate, this app is paw-fect for miniature mutt coaching. This free pupping training app is ideal for those looking for obedience training, potty training, and daily reminders to allow you to keep track of your fur babies progress.

Although centered around being one of the few free puppy training apps, you can sign-up for Pup to Date Pro at the tiny cost of $3.99 a month or $9.99 for a whole year. Bow-wow! The Pro membership allows for 24/7 customer service and advice, along with helpful daily tips and encouragement.
