Hopping away from home this Easter? Well whether it’s cat pals, curious canines or little thumpers you’ve got at home, we’ve got thousands of pet companions (as passionate about pets as your rabbit is crazy for carrots), ready to give your furry family the TLC they need while you’re away.
If you’re planning a trip, remember to secure your sitter in good time so that a happy furry family during your vacation is no longer just a thing of your (chocolate egg-filled) dreams. And don’t just take it from us - vets also agree that our pets are happier at home. Surrounded by the comforts they love, the routines they’re used to and a true pet lover by their side, welcoming a pet sitter means happy pets and happy humans.
So we’ve established our sitters are good eggs, and we could rabbit on about it until the Easter bunny comes knocking. But instead, we thought who better to convince you to than the pets themselves? Yup, we’re not just dangling you a carrot - we pulled a few strings and got chatting to a few four-legged friends of our own on why Easter sitters are the best thing since bone-shaped meat treats and untouched cat towers. So without any further ado, let’s hear what they had to say…

Let’s hear from the dogs…
Enthusiastic as ever, the pups we spoke to couldn’t help but wag their tails about the sitters they’d had in the past (and shudder over their kennel experiences). So here they are, talking about why they’re keen to have a sitter again (and why the pooch in your life will seriously appreciate one this Easter).
“My sitter was incredibly skilled in the cuddles, strokes and snuggles department. When my humans are away, I can get pretty antsy, but with a sitter by my side around the clock until my humans got back, I was surprisingly quite relaxed. Between walks, we spent most of our time cuddling on the sofa, and it was exactly what I needed. Cuddles on tap - that’s what I say!” - Betty the Maltese, Cotswolds.
“I can’t exactly get the smells of home anywhere else, can I?“ - Bailey the Scottish Terrier, Edinburgh.
“When we visited that grassy spot we always go to, the sitter I had last time would let me chat to (and sniff!!) all the other dogs - we were there for HOURS each day and I made SO many new friends. I don’t know what I’d do without that grassy spot (or my daily play with that lovely Doxie, Josie)!” - Toto the Cairn Terrier, Milwaukee.
“If I can have one more wish in life, it’s to never be sent back to a kennel! I have a rather quiet life, so I couldn’t bear all the noise (and the smells - don’t get me started on those). Nope, I’m much happier at home with a sitter, being fed and walked at the same time as usual!” - Kennedy the Afghan Hound, The Hamptons.
“Last time my humans went on vacation and left a sitter behind, they came back in the BEST mood ever - I’ve never had such a warm welcome and I wouldn’t say no to those exotic duck-flavored morsels they brought back, either!” - Buddy the Golden Retriever, Boston.
“I can’t bear the thought of all my favorite toys being left by themselves while my humans are away - I’d rather be at home, keeping everything safe and secure as the top guard I was born to be!“ - Charlie the Chihuahua, Cornwall.
Now from the cats...
Once we managed to get these kitties out of their salmon-induced reveries (with a little help from these cat treats, naturally), they were surprisingly willing to spill all on their experiences with sitters in the past, and why they hope their humans will choose a sitter again this Easter…
“I’ve never been a fan of neighbor check-ins. As much as I hate to admit it, knowing that somebody is waiting for me at home and by my side at night makes me feel safe.“ - Bessie the Ragdoll, Berkeley.
“I don’t like other cats at the best of times, so staying at home with a sitter really does suit me just fine. While humans aren’t exactly my favorite, the sitters I’ve had so far have actually been quite acceptable (and as much as I hate to admit it, I quite enjoyed their company - the last sitter I had was particularly prompt at dinner time). So, I just really hope my humans don’t send me back to that cramped cattery EVER again!” - Cleo the Persian, Seattle.
“No one can take my window-side sun spot from me - Easter or not. Period.” - Luna (unknown breed), Portland.
“After overhearing my humans talk about how expensive catteries are, I was dumbfounded. Personally, I’ll never understand why they’d actually pay to put me in that place again - *shudders* - if it was up to me, I’d never have set a paw there in the first place. And if it means more money left over for those special salmon bites I like and a new scratching post like Socks’ nextdoor, I’d seriously consider having a pet sitter next time my humans are away!” - Ozzy the Scottish Fold, Brighton.
“I don’t mind my humans, but sometimes it’s nice to feel like I rule the roost for once - when a sitter comes to stay, it’s my chance to step into the shoes of the woman of the household and frankly, I thrive. It’s me calling the shots, it’s me showing them how things are done around here, and they’re pretty darn easy to walk all over (not literally - gross), so to my humans: PLEASE take the hint and go away this Easter so that I can have some me(ow) time again!” - Missy the Maine Coon, Canterbury.
“I couldn’t believe the state of the house plants when I came back from the cattery - at least when we had the pet sitter, they kept the grass cut and the hedges trimmed - fence hopping was so much harder when it was all left to grow and my coat was a state!“ - Cosmo the Norwegian Forest Cat, Newbury.
And if our canine companions and feline friends haven’t quite got you convinced that an Easter break with a sitter caring for your furry family is the way forward, meet Aaron and Lawrence. They’re two two pleased-as-punch piggies, hosts with the most and avid members of our community. After four years with THS, the pair have quite a bit to say…
“We just prefer to be in our own bed at the end of the day” - Lawrence, guinea pig
