Getting to know: Mathew Prior, CEO

Welcome to our new 'Getting to know' blog series, where we'll be infiltrating Trusted HQ to find out more about our wonderful Trusted employees. And who better to kick us off than our very own CEO, Mathew Prior?

As CEO, Mathew is the man leading Team Trusted, so we decided to steal a few minutes of his time to get to know him a little better. From what his favourite thing about working at TrustedHousesitters is, to his dream house sit destination, read on to get to know our CEO...

Firstly, when did you join TrustedHousesitters?

In September of last year (2019).

What is your role at TrustedHousesitters?

CEO. This means I have the great pleasure of leading our wonderful Trusted Team.

What’s the best thing about working at TrustedHousesitters?

The fact that I know 100% that every day there are members and their pets around the world who are happier as a result of our service.

What’s the worst thing?

Our office is very dog-friendly, which we all love — but with that comes the occupational hazard that, on one or two occasions, we have had a few 'accidents' on the office floor!

Describe our TrustedHousesitters community in 3 words…

Respectful, Caring, Dynamic.

Do you have any pets? (If not, are you a cat, dog, or any animal person?)

My mother-in-law lives nearby and has two beautiful black labradors. We spend a lot of time with the three of them! 

If you could house sit anywhere in the world, where would it be? 

We as a family have real wanderlust and enjoy travelling enormously. My ideal sit would be in a beautiful house overlooking the ocean, so we can go for morning swims and long dog walks. 

Where was the last place you visited?

Lake Garda in Italy. I was there at the end of August for a week’s vacation. It was lovely to visit, such a beautiful place and I have to congratulate Italy on its Covid precautions — we felt very safe and had as normal a vacation as ever.

What’s your top bucket list destination?

I used to run a ski business and have a real passion for the snow. There are many resorts in the USA that I’m yet to visit so I’m going to plump for Jackson Hole in Wyoming.

What's the one thing you can’t do, but wish you could?

Tricky one. Jumping splits? 

Finally — tell us one thing no one at TrustedHousesitters knows about you? 

I love singing but always ensure that I can never be overheard!
